Uri L’Tzedek Development and Communications Intern
Uri L'Tzedek is an Orthodox social justice organization guided by Torah values and dedicated to combating suffering and oppression. Through community based education, leadership development and action, Uri L'Tzedek creates discourse, inspires leaders, and empowers the Jewish community towards creating a more just world.
Uri L’Tzedek seeks a Development and Communications Intern for the 2009-2010 academic year. This year long internship is an opportunity to work alongside Uri L’Tzedek's staff and board, experience the many mechanisms that come together to create an effective nonprofit organization, gain exposure to communal Jewish life, effect change and learn Torah, social justice philosophy, and community organizing models. The internship will be based at Uri L’Tzedek’s offices at UJC; there will be opportunities to attend Bikkurim workshops and learn from top consultants in the field of Jewish development. The Development and Communication Intern is a volunteer position.
Development and Communication Intern:
This volunteer position will create and manage a donor database for many aspects of the organization’s work; will help raise money from foundations and related institutions to support Uri L’Tzedek’s core mission and strategic programs; actively expand the organization’s reach and influence by cultivating donors and working with the foundation community; and will help manage all aspects of proposal development, grant writing, stewardship, and compliance.
Ideal candidates should have a basic understanding of relational database including data management and integration, and they should have experience with reporting tools. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Access is a definite plus. All candidates must be able to meet deadlines and possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

We are looking for an intern to work from September 1 to June 30. A minimum of one full day or 8 hours per week is required. Some evening hours may be necessary for events.
