Hillel Scholarships

 

The Peter Marron Educational Scholarship: This scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from Peter Marron, carries a $1,000 prize for students exhibit need for financial assistance and is awarded based on merit. Interested applicants must submit a 500 word or more essay detailing their interest and need. Peter Marron serves on Hillel’s board of directors and is a generous supporter of our institution.                                      

The Fanny Gerber Memorial Award: The Fanny Gerber Memorial Award is a $1,000 scholarship given to students who demonstrate academic excellence and maintain a 3.40 GPA or higher. The student must attend Brooklyn College and be an active Hillel participant.  To be considered for the Award the student must submit a letter of recommendation from the Executive director of Hillel at which time the board of directors will have full discretion and award the scholarship based on merit. The fanny Gerber memorial award is a generous gift of Prof. Barbara Gerber, a 30 year tenured professor at Brooklyn College and Hillel vice president. Prof Gerber is a proponent of student rights and believes education is critical to personal and professional development. The recipient shall receive an award of $1,000. Each student applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from the Executive Director of Hillel to be considered for this award.

Sandra and Jack Levitt Scholarships: The Sandra and Jack Levvit scholarshipo gives students the ability to attend school for one year tuition free.Sandra and Jack Levitt are supporters of Hillel and believe that students have a right to accessible education. Both Sandra and Jack are graduates of Brooklyn College. In order to be eligible applicants must submit a letter of recommendation, 1 page personal statement and may be required to disclose financial records. 

Frimmer Scholarships: The Frimmer scholarship is a very special and exclusive award given to students who are in excellent academic standing at Brooklyn college, pursuing a bachelor of arts degree and who plan to spend a year of study in Israel. Interested candidates must submit a one page personal essay explaining their interest and qualifications.
